In a spectacle worthy of a Hollywood premiere, President Donald J. Trump rolled out an extravagant White House welcome for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) on Tuesday, complete with blaring music, a ceremonial horse escort, and a roaring military flyover that left crowds buzzing.
The high-energy reception set the stage for a $1 trillion investment drive designed to turbocharge U.S.–Saudi cooperation across energy, defense, technology, and infrastructure.
Trump and MBS — who first met in 2017 — oversaw the signing of multiple agreements to deepen the strategic partnership, with key priorities including Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification and expanded defense collaboration.
Riyadh also signaled renewed interest in joining the Abraham Accords, a move that could mark a major breakthrough in Saudi-Israeli relations.
On Wednesday, the crown prince held closed-door sessions with congressional leaders before presiding over a major U.S.–Saudi Investment Forum, where executives are expected to unveil details of the massive economic package, covering renewable energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and large-scale infrastructure ventures.
While human rights concerns — including the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi — continue to shadow MBS, the White House cast the visit as a historic reset.
With volatile oil markets and intensifying global competition, both sides emphasized a shared desire to strengthen strategic and economic alignment.
As MBS concludes his tour, the message from Washington is unmistakable: the U.S.–Saudi partnership is back — bigger, bolder, and more ambitious than ever.
