Prague, Czechia.

Arsenal’s stunning run under Mikel Arteta reached historic heights on Tuesday night as the Gunners equaled a 122-year-old club record with their eighth consecutive clean sheet — and sealed a tenth straight victory — after a commanding 3–0 win over Slavia Prague in the Champions League.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute after a Lukas Provod handball, before emergency striker Mikel Merino netted a quickfire second-half brace (46’, 68’) to put the result beyond doubt. Such was Arsenal’s dominance that goalkeeper David Raya did not face a single shot on target throughout the match.

Ten in a Row — The Streak

Arsenal’s march began on October 5 with a 2–0 victory over Olympiacos in the Champions League, followed by successive wins against West Ham, Fulham, and Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The Gunners then eliminated Brighton with a 2–0 win in the Carabao Cup before defeating Burnley by the same margin.

Their European form has been even more devastating. Arsenal crushed Atlético Madrid 4–0 away before delivering another emphatic 3–0 result against Slavia Prague in Prague. In total, they have scored 24 goals without conceding a single one since late September — a defensive masterclass that matches the club record first set in 1903 across two Second Division campaigns.

Walking Wounded, Still Winning

Remarkably, this run has come despite Arsenal being without nearly their entire first-choice attacking unit. Viktor Gyökeres remains sidelined with an ankle injury until after the November international break, while captain Martin Ødegaard and Kai Havertz continue recovery from knee issues and are targeting returns later this month. Gabriel Jesus is still out with a long-term ACL injury expected to keep him sidelined until December or January.

The list of absentees also includes Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli, both nursing knee and hamstring problems respectively, as well as midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who was suspended for the Prague fixture. Yet despite these absences, 18-year-old Ethan Nwaneri dazzled in midfield with maturity beyond his years, and Mikel Merino marked his first Arsenal goals with authority and composure.

By the Numbers

Arsenal’s season so far has been defined by consistency and defensive excellence. They have recorded 12 clean sheets in 16 games, conceding only three goals in all competitions. The Gunners have gone 360 Champions League minutes without conceding, remain six points clear at the top of the Premier League, and have collected a perfect 30 points from 30 since September 28.

History Beckons

The Gunners now turn their focus to Sunderland on Saturday, November 8 (17:30 GMT), where another clean sheet would secure a new outright club record of nine consecutive shutouts, while another win would extend their remarkable run to 11 victories in a row.

The night in Prague also produced two individual milestones. Bukayo Saka became the first Arsenal player ever to score in four consecutive Champions League away games, further underlining his talismanic form. Meanwhile, Max Dowman, at just 15 years and 308 days, etched his name into the record books as the youngest player in Champions League history.

From a patched-up lineup in Prague to rewriting 122 years of history, Arteta’s Arsenal are proving unstoppable.
